03. Take A Minute
04. No Groove Where I Come From
05. Losing It
06. Skit
07. I Just Want To Make Love To You
08. Chaser
09. Once You're Near Me
10. Escape Route

12. Music Is Ruling My World
13. And Out
Genre: Funk/Afrobeat/Psychedelic
Website: Myspace |
Release Date: 2007-11-27
Label: Melting Pot Music
The genres listed above are way descriptive of this music. Psychedelic vocals over funky licks and afrobeatage. There's even an ambient/electronic aspect to it but imma go ahead and leave that under the psychedelic umbrella. What better label name too? Kutiman is the nickname for Ophir Kutiel who is straight outta Tel-Aviv, Israel. He's a producer and plays the keys, guitar, bass, and drums. Partnered up with DJ Sabbo who introduced him to funk and afrobeat they are now contributing to more than the growing groove scene in Tel-Aviv... BO! Tracks 04 and 10 are highly recommended.
**2008-11-17 UPDATE** After corresponding with Kutiman's music manager Boaz I've been given the go ahead to share a couple extra tracks from this album in the quest to spread the love. Tracks 04 and 10 as previously recommended by me are now available for earage. I've also been informed that Kutiman is working on new promotional material that's a little different than this release but will be nonetheless "mind blowing" (yes that's a literal quote). Everybody say thanks to Kutiman and his manager Boaz for making the backscratch mutual! And please use this as motivation to purchase the album and fund the development of Israeli groove research!!
