Label: Verve Forecast
Old school album (for me) from a great singer songwriter. Jessie Baylin (Jessicles?) has not only a great voice but uses it in such great melodic flows, creating irresistibly contagious singalongs. She's shacked up doin her thing in LA so you west coasters will hopefully get a chance to see her around. At only age 24 she's already toured with many big names you'll recognize (e.g. Brett Dennen, Teitur) and is now out supporting Matt Nathanson. She is also engaged to be married to Nathan Followill, the drummer for Kings Of Leon. Hot stuff.

actually she lives in Nashville. do your math.
first off it's geography, history, and current events. not math. she was in LA starting at age 18 and only recently got to Nashville. I schedule my posting weeks in advance and did not foresee her relocation (and her myspace still does not reflect the change). Thanks for pointing it out but a) don't be a dick about it, i don't have enough time to get everything right and b) if you are going to be a dick about it, have the courtesy to take the credit and not be anonymous. aside from that, thanks for listening because no matter where she's from her music is still great.
I had the distinct pleasure of seeing Jessie's first LA show and happily, 20 or so since. I can honestly say she's always delivered my money's worth and more. While the terrific voice happens to be coming from a purdy lady, she's never relied on her looks which we see all too often from performers these days.
Whether singing one of her own songs or doing one of my personal favorites, the beatles classic , Rocky Racoon - she always relates to the audience and creates an intimate vibe. When she sings - the room actually gets almost quiet as people are listening so intently - let me in most places thats difficult - in LA its nearly impossible. Ms. Baylin is an artist who deserves to heard but definitely should be seen live.
