If you've had a chance to listen to Victoria Bergsman's last album (Open Field, 2007) you'll find this upcoming release of hers very new and refreshing. Leaving the confines of modern studios she also left the confines of her traditional folk style and infused it with middle-eastern flavors. She traveled to Pakistan to immerse herself in their musical stylings and worked with Sufi musicians for much of this album. Almost some flamenco-like vibes - Govi meets Karen Ann?
Her journey to make this album shows through in every track so when it comes out on the 8th of September make sure you tag along. (and don't forget to look forward to hearing the Animal Collective cover of My Girls called "My Boys")
