Stephanie Schneiderman - 20 Slivers (Keith Schreiner Remix)

20 Slivers
Check out this exclusive unreleased re-mixed track called "twenty slivers" by Stephanie Schneiderman. Renown electronic musician/producer/DJ— Keith Schreiner has remixed a bunch of the tunes from Stephanie Schneiderman's album Dangerous Fruit and will be releasing the tracks on a remix album called 'cracks and slivers'. No release date has been set as of yet.
"Six solo albums, two collaborative albums, three music production credits, several film and stage roles and the creation of a wildly successful concert series to benefit refugees in Uganda—Yes, trying to pin down Stephanie Schneiderman to any one genre, talent or discipline is next to impossible. And while Stephanie's latest effort, her sixth solo release called Dangerous Fruit retains therootsy flair, distinctive vocals and intricate songwriting that have solidified her as one of the NW's premier artists, the album also, unsurprisingly, launches her sound in a completely new, uncharted direction.

The catalyst for this is her musical partnership with Keith Schreiner (Dahlia, Auditory Sculpture, Grammy-winning artists Jeff Trott, Sheryl Crow and Dr. Dre/Eminem's producer Mike Elizondoas well as Banco de Gaia, Corinna Rep and Minnie Driver). The result is a gorgeous recording that transcends genre and defies convention—an 11 song compilation that artfully combines pop, trip hop, soul, electronica and folk and is a testament to the magic that can happen when a unique collaboration hits its stride."
Thanks Sera!

Miss Kittin & The Hacker - Party In My Head

Tracklist:
01. Party In My Head (Original Mix)
02. Party In My Head (Mr. Pauli Remix)
03. Party In My Head (Thieves Like Us Remix)
04. Party In My Head (Kiko Remix)
Genre: Electronic/Dance/Indie/Pop/Techno
Website: Myspace | iTunes
Label: Nobody's Bizness
From Girlie Action (thanks!):
Hot on the heels of Miss Kittin & the Hacker’s "1000 Dreams" springs “Party in my Head," also lifted from the duo’s latest release, TWO.
Dutch supremo, Mr Pauli (Clone/Viewlexx) contributes a bubbling hi-energized track, while Shelflife Records’ Parisian based act, Thieves Like Us, toss their hat into the remix ring with a tremendous NYC early '80's indie-electro-funk-groove. Kiko wraps up the record, smashing a home run tinkering with bell-buzzing beats.
The electroclash contrariness that Miss Kittin & The Hacker have left behind
are brought to life with “Party in my Head,” while remaining a perfectly accessible, more elegant, more mature and more distinct - yet, still pop – single.
The track for share is the Thieves Like Us remix which we can all thank Girlie Action for authorizing as well as the original artist and remixer!

Beastie Boys - Body Movin (Dave Wrangler Remix)

2009 Houston Press Best DJ Nominee Dave Wrangler (yeah I know, long intro name) is every bit worthy of being a best DJ nominee. I don't know who he lost to (care to share, Dave?) I'm surprised he didn't win because he consistently reforges good songs into great jams. Get a load of this particular remix in particular and keep the ears out for more tunes as Dave sends them my way.
Daniel Merriweather - Change (Dirty Monkeez Remix)

The boys over at Ektiv Management were kind enough to send me over a great remix by Dirty Monkeez. Artist Daniel Merriweather is a myspace-described Soul/Folk/Blues musician whose music is really not too shabby. Although not a full-blown mainstream track on its own, Change (check his myspace) sounds really good in a Bloody Beetroots/Crookers electronic club remix. Check it out now and lemme know what you think. Rockin.

In a world where the Hip Hop of the masses is defined by mainstream media outlets and the music seems to touch more and more hands before touching your ears, finding a DIYer who can contend for centerstage is priceless. Enter Abraham Kinkopf. His second album (the first being Things You Don't Know in 2007) is equal parts of buttery-smooth beats with seamless raps and mini-tracks. Did I mention it's all DIY? To put out tracks of this caliber in one's own cannot be lauded or applauded more. Pick up the limited edition LP through the buy link above. Some of the tracks bring to mind an Aesop Rock-esque flow style that is sure to please any Hip Hop fan. And, the electronic aspect of it is sure to satisfy the electrophyle in all of us.

His Majesty Andre - Roxxx + Girrrl

Tracklist:
01. Peep Thong
02. NRG 555
03. Music Non Stop
04. Hold On
Genre: Electro/Club/Dance
Website: Myspace |
Release Date: 2008-12-15
Label: Cheaper Thrills
The first release on Cheaper Thrills comes courtesy of HIS MAJESTY ANDRE. 4 club cuts, disco-tastic bombs, bass driven hedonistic floorfillers.
That pretty much sums up Peep Thong, NRG 555 and Music Non Stop (the latter of which is definitely an office favourite).
But it’s Hold Tight for me that really grabs your attention. With a big shift back to disco at present, Hold On has that 80’s disco groove at perfection, a bit more laid back, yet in your face, a bit daft punk, a bit retro, a bit soul. It’s a killer groove completing this killer EP.

Genre: Folk/Rock/Singer-Songwriter
Website: Myspace |
Release Date: 2009-06-02
Label: Weasel
Been a fan of Willy's for a long long time now. Favorite song might be some live recordings of tribe that are out there. The album is refreshing after three years since his last album Available Light. His seventh release (if you include his live one High Wire Live) is good indication that Willy is still going strong. Catch him live if you can. Great presence and his music is even better when it's in flesh and blood, skin & drum.

"After two years of non-stop touring, band founders Kevin and Anita Robinson took an entire year off (unheard of for them) to clear their heads and focus on other projects. Now Viva Voce are back with Rose City, an album they wrote, arranged, and recorded all in one furious month - choosing not to deliberate over every little thing but living purely in the moment musically and lyrically. Immersing themselves in sonic experimentation, it was spontaneous and cathartic. The result is an angular, immediate record that pulses with the palpable urgency of a band yearning for a return to the vagabond life of the working, touring musician - a mode in which Viva Voce is truly at home."
