Festival Blues (fixed by Yukon Blonde)

Maybe it’s the fact that it went from 60 degrees to 85 degrees in Chicago today, but I am missing summer jams. A specific band that comes to mind (comparing to the likes of Dr. Dog and Fruit Bats) is Yukon Blonde. Hailing from Vancouver, they exemplify a perfect mash-up of 1960s California folk and today’s Indie Rock (Think electro-folk Fleet Foxes, especially in “Songs”.) Their debut EP “Everything in Everyway” was released in 2009, followed by a self-titled LP. They performed at SXSW and Toronto’s Canadian Music Fest last summer, but with their extensive touring schedule, we can only hope for more.
Melody Rock ‘n Roll seems to be sticking around, which is fine with me. Is it time for summer music festivals yet?
